Walt Mass - Respected

10.26.2013

The Family Man slash Hitman of the Camp drops another full length banger to commemorate his transition into OG status. Walt Mass is well respected everywhere so to entitle his CD "Respected" is just due. Of course, fellow OG in the RIGID lays the soundscape for this hood thriller with features from only H-Wood, R&S and Shadowman. His subject matter covers everything from lost love to lost lives and is delivered in that real life, real talk way that only the REAL WALT could give it to you. Respect all but fear none, salute!

Pete Rock & CL Smooth Reunion

10.24.2013

Real authentic Hip-Hop music ain't nothing to fuck with!!!! The beauty of this show was the reunion of two of the iLLest to do it, Pete Rock and CL Smooth. Mecca and the Soul Brother squashed beef just in time for their 20th anniversary.

This dynamic duo killed it. With The Chocolate Boy Wonder behind and in front of the 1's & 2's DJing, beatboxing and rapping it was tough for CL to shine...no sike, he killed it too! He didn't miss one bar, got the crowd into it and spread lots of loving throughout the performance.

The openers needed a little help excluding a chick who sang her big ass off. Camp Lo was a let down besides 'Luchini'. All in all, it was nice to chop it up with these legends and we even passed a few of our classic CDs to them. Support Hip-Hop.

Rock The Bells X 2013

So ya mainMAN flew out to California to attend the 10th anniversary of the Rock The Bells Hip-Hop festival. He hooked up with good friend Mixmaster Keith and a few fellow Hip-Hop heads to enjoy butta music live and in the flesh. Day one started out right with Sean Price, Common, Talib Kweli, Freddie Gibbs and KRS-One. How can you go wrong with three stages rocking at the same damn time. We had VIP seats so our comfort level all good. Cheeba filled the air along with the sounds of Hip-Hop. I was definitely in my element.

Day two capped off a beautiful weekend of hardcore, underground music with Rakim, Dilated Peoples, Kendrick Lamar and Wu-Tang. The Clan brought out Ol' Dirty Bastard via the hologram and Eazy E made an appearance the same way during Bone thugs set but I was less than captivated. I was also unimpressed with the lackluster performances of Action Bronson and Joey Badass. Kendrick aka K-Dot, however, ripped shit up with a live band backing him up.

Overall, I really enjoyed myself. If the line up is as nice as it was this year, I will attend again next year. I just need my homie Dolla Bill there with next time. Peace.
